Can anyone recommend a midrange scms which will cope well with trenching...preferably 8"..I have a 12" chopsaw.

Thanks!

I have just bought a Metabo KGS216M Laser Slide Compound Mitre Saw from Tool Stop, and I am very happy with it so far. I have tried a small amount of trench while playing around with some halving joints it seemed to cope Ok

+1 for the Metabo KGS216M, I've had one for over a year, it's nice and accurate, replaced the standard blade with a fine one and replaced the flimsy trenching adjuster screw with something more substantial and bigger and it performs great. There's also a bigger version that allows for deeper cuts, I think that one has a 250mm blade as opposed to 216mm.

What's your budget?

I've owned a Bosch GCM800S for a few years now and am really happy with it. I think I paid about £250 for mine (that included a free blade).

Perhaps not midrange but I have a Festool Kapex which is great - especially the double laser showing either side of the blade. Previous to this I had a Dewalt DW712 which was very accurate but lacked a truely deep cutting capacity. I believe the Malita are pretty good too.

Hope that helps..
