I was going to buy the HBS30, but then came across a refurb (new and unused) BASA1, which is £30 cheaper.

BASA1 seems to be the superior model and is rated 300W and usually £50 more expensive.

HSBC30 is rated 350W, and seems to be a newer machine.

Any thoughts??

If I had no other option but these two - I would avoid HSBC30 because of two reasons:

1. Wrong way round switch orientation.
- my OCD requires ON to be on top, not the bottom. I had to turn the switch on my Axminster bandsaw, as having ON in the normal position of OFF was simply dangerous.

2. Cutting height - 100mm on the BASA1 is already too little, but 80mm of HSBC30 is scroll-saw territory.

Having said that, don't select your bandsaw based on the price. Select it based on how you are going to use it: flat stock, tall stock, wide stock, narrow stock, resawing, etc. There are plenty of threads on this forum discussing these.
