Hi,

I'm in a bit of a dilema but not sure which circular saw to get.

I was going to purchase a Dewalt in B&Q the other day however I'm now thinking about one of those Rage Evolution saws.

Is the Evolution any good at sheet materials and does it leave a good cut?

Any opinions?

Thanks

I have a Rage which I think uses the same type of blade?
I use it for its mobility and that it will cut metal even if accidentaly.

It does not give the finest of cuts but not that bad considering what it will cut!

Quality of blade will probably have more of an effect on the quality of the cut than the saw itself. If it isn't clean enough for your liking then you could always buy a good quality, fine blade (as long as you know the wood is 'clean'!).

I swear by the Skilsaw. I have had mine for over fifteen years now and only had to replace the blade once or twice. HTH

Hi phil,

I used a colleague's rage about 2 years ago and found it well make, but from memory i think the blade was not viewable while in use (I like to be able to see the cut). I think its enclosed to keep in sparks while cutting metal. but i think the design may have changed since then. but maybe worth looking at before you buy

I have a couple of Festools, a Hilti WSC 265, a Hitachi CS, a Kress CS and a Skilsaw classic. They are all good saws, but mailee is right, for the money the Skilsaw is very, very good. I have mine mounted on an Axminster Pro guide rail system, which runs on ball bearings. For a hundred and fifty quid I got a great quality guide rail saw, praps better than the fessy!!! Won't plunge though.

The Hilti is excellent, but expensive. The Hitachi is a workhorse. The Kress (wickes pro) cost me £10 and is the only 240v I have, and is also very good. The Festools speak for themselves. If I had to have just one? Mmmmhhhh........honestly? Hilti.

HTH
