guys hi

my first post, I am very new to wood turning and I am currently getting the parts I need for my projects (well trying too)

I am sure i will need lots of pen blanks to start with ! lol

where can I buy pen inserts from (the actual pen bit) from in the UK and apart from salt and pepper mills can any one suggest so other simple projects for me to try please ?

George

There are lots of places nearby however I woudl suggest that as you're new to the game a trip to ToolPost in Didcot will be a happy way to pass some time and money. Peter there is very helpful :)

Hi and welcome. Personally I wouldn't class mills as simple, lots of measuring etc and needing to be pretty accurate. Have a look through the projects here and see if there is anything that appeals.

Hope this helps

Hello and welcome George :D
I have only ever bought the slim line kits from Axminster, but i'm sure some of our more well known pen turners will be along to offer advice soon:D

Welcome to the forum George, can you gives us a brief run down on what kit you have, lathe model, chuck model if you have one and jaws to fit, tools, etc.

That way we'll try not to guide you down the buying slope too quickly and only suggest stuff that you should be able to tackle with your existing kit.

Hi George....

I can second mikec in saying 'fun-e-turnz' on ebay....... bought loads of kits from her. She'll even mix colours if you want, i.e. rather than 5 all chrome, she'll do 1 of each of any choice you make. If there's anything you want but cant see it just ask.

However..... once you've progressed a bit, i recommend you try elsewhere for the more expensive kits. You DO GET what you pay for....

Good luck

Nick
