Hi.
I have started into segment turning here in Norway.
But I have problems to find a distributor of lumber that could send to me. Is there any shops in England I could serach for and get delivery of smaller quantyties of lumber 1"and 2" thicknes and 5-6" wide. Longest can be up to 100cm but smaller too can be ok.
Would love to find a shop to handle my query.
Sincerely and thanks in advance

Steinar from Norway

I imagine several UK companies would supply you.... but the postage costs might bankrupt you!

You mentioned 'Lumber'... That's a very American term. I had a quick Google for Norwegian timber suppliers and found a fair few. Might that not be what you were after?
Sweden also seems to have a thriving timber industry, with a lot of it being sent here... surely getting it direct would be better than odering from the UK?

Hi.
If you look for spruce, birch, softwood and pine we have it all. But hardwood is very rare! This is wood to make furiniture and in my case Segmented turned items. I need to work more to find someone that can help me. There is several ways of sending packages and post is the most expensive way.
A trip buy car is also an option.

Steinar

As far as I remember my swimming is of excellent condition!

But there is boats going and today I have contacted a hauling company. It might be a solution for me and maybe others.

I appreciate any help that might be on the subject.
I am looking for:
Marple wenge, padauk, purpleheart, cherry, yellowheart and chakte viga. Or wood very simmilar to these colors.
I can buy one here and there. But hope to get all from the same place. I think there might be others doing the same kind of turning and they might have someone to ask.

Best regards
Steinar
