I only know one opera by Rossini so here goes...

He also had a house with 39 steps in it.
He once knew someone who was 39.

Or.......................
Could it be that in the opera La Donna del Largo the opening scene is set beside Loch Katrine and that some of the filming of the 39 steps was also done beside Loch Katrine ?
