HG Sticker Remover is the best solvent I have found, even works on old dried up marks

Scoffy, this thread is spiralling off into becoming a solvent discussion. However, Percy gave the best advice...plan A should be to use a heat gun, only if that doesn't work would you begin to think about solvents.

Agreed.

A little heat (even from a hairdryer if you don’t have a heat gun) works wonders for removing stickers. If you want to avoid residual adhesive, “peel slowly and see”

Also works for labels on LPs and foam surrounds on HiFi speakers.

It might be a completely different type of adhesive, but I remove the residual sticky mess when removing labels from my returned honey jars by spraying with an oven cleaning aerosol and letting it soak for a few minutes.
