Totally agree that dust collection at source is by far the best approach, I think that opinion's universal. At source collection works really well for the bandsaw, router table and table saw, mainly by design of the equipment. But it's much less effective when any sanding is done on the lathe. I think this is where an additional air filter really does come into play (when used alongside a face-mask) by catching any dust that the turning ejects out. Not ideal, but better than using just the 'at source' (from a turning perspective).
