Water.
Amazing. 5 responses, 5 different answers! any others? HP sauce? Mustard? Blood?

Hello,

Window cleaner is basically being used as a tension breaker, here. Similarly, a few drops of mechs in the water will work equally well, which is what I do . SIX!

Mike.

I don't use diamond stones, but I do sometimes use ceramic stones. The lubricant I use is water with a few drops of washing-up liquid to break the surface tension. Works a treat. (Don't overdo the washing-up liquid though, or you're operating in a sea of bubbles. Don't ask how I know....)

There will be a class of woodworker that will insist on the mustard being certified Organic.

Hello,

Sorry, Meths! I've got a sore finger (big splinter up the fingernail!) I'm making typos like crazy.

Mike.

I find the grainy mustard removes too much steel.
Personally I prefer Balsamic Vinegar - it creates a fine slurry and fills the workshop with the scent of the Mediterranean.
