I have been working on this for about two years in total, but it's been the main project since Christmas 2010. This is the main reason I haven't posted for a bit. Here's a link to the project album on Facebook. The captions are for the lay person, not serious woodworkers:

This album starts with the base unit together. It didn't really occur to put it together before then and the pics wouldn't have been that interesting to the lay person.

Timber is pine and beech. The piece is built mainly with hand tools, with a little help from the band saw, router and drill press.

It's been quite a project and I've learnt a lot. Many times I thought it was going to have to be scrapped. I hope that you like it.

Great! loved the picture series, fantastic to see such a multitude of planes and and other hand tools in use.

..most of my tools have batteries and cords :oops: ive got so much to learn..

One reason for the hand tools is that I'm scared of power tools.
