I got a new Bosch cordless drill, an Ashley Iles 6mm chisel, some router bits and biscuits. Not too bad :) .

I had to go into the shed this morning to finish off a present for my son's girlfriend, that he only requested at 9 o'clock yesterday evening  .

I have done very well this year. I was given a Tormek 1206 with selection of jigs from the mrs, a lovely set of two cherry chisels from the in-laws, some Axminster gift vouchers from my parents and a fantastic book titled "Wood: Identification & Use" from my brother.

I got up early (6am, as this is the only spare time I have right now) and just got back in from my workshop after setting up and playing with my new Tormek. Having only read about them and seen them in use on TV, I am very, very impressed with it. :D Makes sharpening my old chisels so, so easy. Best present ever !!

Unfortunately, now I have to come back in, make breakfast for everyone and be sociable. I know where I'd rather be. I'm like a young child with new toys at Christmas... Oh, it is Christmas and I am just a big child now.

Well, Merry Christmas all and look forward to a great New Year.

Despite all the not so subtle hints, my woodworking tool this year was a jumper!!!! I do not know where I went wrong

Same here GT - But I made sure I did get one tool by buying it myself  Of course SWIMBO grabbed it and wouldn't give it back until yesterday

Merry Xmas everyone.

My Haul was

Axminster ND16B Pillar drill
Axminster AWC25HP Compressor
An airline hose
Air Blow Gun
Axminster AW50N Nailer

:D

Nasty cold is keeping me out of the workshop to play with it all though.

Wishing you all a very festive holiday

Hi Roy, finally managed to get some workshop pics onto the site, still not quite right but I'm getting there thanks to LOML (the lad was too busy with prezzies) so if I can do it anyone can.

Happy new year in advance as I won't be able to do this on new years eve
this greeting is also for everyone on the forum.
Regards Rich.

so if I can do it anyone can

I'll remember that!
This morning I've checked the router plate fits in the hole in the bench top, drilled it for the router pillars and now I'm fitting the two fence rails into their slots.
(To be continued!)

My daughter bought me some of those Chinese rasps (complete in a rather tasty leather tool roll) Haven't tried them out yet, but they look quite good......

and a nice bottle of 15yr old malt :) - Rob

Veritas LA Jack - was allowed into the garage to have a quick play with it - it's awesome! :)

Plus a couple more Ashley Iles dovetail chisels ordered before Christmas ... hopefully they'll be delivered soon ... OK this is a pressie to myself, but it does count, doesn't it?

And the usual collection of books, CDs, shampoo and choccies from SWMBO and the girls ...

My daughter bought me some of those Chinese rasps
Rob, I would be very interested to hear how well they work, I roughed a lot of this
https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/view ... ght=#70976 with, I think they are Sandvik rasps in a frame with holes under the cutting bits, not that impressed with them.
Pressies I got a woodpecker router table insert, Spyderco ceramic sharpening stones (pain to flatten) first impressions of these is they are truly outstanding in the way they impart a polish to the blade.

My problem is I've got everything I've got room for! Probably the same as every woodie, my wish list is substantially bigger than my workshop.
I've got a large garden, but as the wife and I like gardening I daren't take up any more space.

Might pay to get the lady interested in turning :)

She is only interested in the finished result. She does the design work, or shows me something in a mag, and I'm left to get on with it.
To be honest I've never had a lot of interest in turning, I use a lathe to produce parts for other jobs, but I'm not into turning for its own sake.

Alan - will report back when I've had a go with them, they look very good and at a fraction of the cost of the French ones are excellent value. Glad you liked the Spyderco (if it's the 10000g stone) mine was delivered dead flat - Rob

This is probably bending the rules a bit but I have just ordered myself a dozuki and ryobi saw with some money I had for Christmas.

Now the wait by the postbox begins....

The wife bought me a nail gun and compressor ,, its only one of the small clark ones but it works ace and fires up to 50ml nails :D

And today the guy i work with turned up at my place with a new trend worktop jig and a matching set of worktop bits,, gave them to me said they were a gift,,, then told me we are fitting a kitchen on saturday with them but they were mine to keep afterwards BONUS

I had socks for xmas, but not the kind that you put your feet in, more the kind you put your LN Jointer and LN Smoother in.

Dead chuffed, not prompted at all too.
