walnut love it where my parents used to live there were 2 walnuts on the front lawn about 30 inch daimeter was never allowed to touch them the fresh nuts were very nice tho. the clearing of 12" of leaves every year was the only down side .

Paul - I agree that Rogers link is spot on, I did mine in April which was clearly the worst time. I will be doing it in late Autumn in future
