Waterproof wood treatment

I have some work coming up using 119 by 12 T&G weatherboard.

In tandem with rising prices there seems to be deterioration of quality. lots of knots, cracks etc.

I'm wondering if there is a cost effective method of waterproofing it?

Sikagaurd universal 5 star wood treatment-can be overpainted, varnished etc - shop around as prices can exceed £30 per 5 ltr. Minimum 2 coats and you’re done . Got mine online from b c profiles around £23. If I remember correctly
