I was going to get a Jet260, but with the trouble they are having with the tables I want to wait an see what happens. I was going to buy Karls but for his troubles. I may also be moving my equipment to a new home so don't want another giant machine right now to move.

So to see me through I'd like a cheap bench top P/T. Is there anyone on here with one hiding under a bench that they'd like to sell off?

TIA!

Hey.

Don't know about second hand but I can reccomend the MacAllister (B&Q) PT as a cheap, benchtop number. I mainly use mine for cleaning up reclaimed timber from pallets. I've not had one before so can't compare it but it does a great job as far as I'm concerned. Powerful, takes up to a 300mm board (IIRC) and has a pretty effective extraction thingumy built in. Given it plenty of abuse and it still works perfectly.

Think I paid £180 about a year back. 8)

I'd go for a seperate thicknesser in that case - best by a country mile is the dw733 but they arent cheap (unless you can ebay a bargain) , axminster have their own on special offer at the moment tho. so that may be worth a look.

on the planer side - just use a plane like a no6 or 7

Got the SIP 6x4 off ebay from a nice feller for £140 plus £16 postage. That should see me true for a while.

I did think of buying just a thicknesser, cause you can plane with one using a flat board and some hot melt glue but hopefully this little one will do ok and if I get £100 or so for it when it comes time to go I'll be doing ok.

His Thicknessing bed is suffering the same problem as Wizers, it drops down over time meaning the first bit you put in and the last aren't the same.

...You could always spend a bit extra and get the 310 model, where I believe the thicknesser bed can be locked in place! :D

What troubles? Have I missed something?

Haha - don't worry Bradley, i'm ok. I've been having a couple of problems with the Jet, that's all.

Cheers

Karl
