Thank you.
Thank you.
Why does someone so well organized need 4 tape measures? If you could see my workshop you would know why I have 7 Stanley Knives (approx)Mine is shown below, very simple just 40mm batons fixed vertically to the wall with timbers fixed horizontally to those leaving gaps for cantilever shelves to fit between.
At the base I added some drawers for small components, the shelves are made to accommodate my most used tools & are very simple to make.

I have at least twenty tape measures... why is it I can never find one?!?!!!If you look carefully there are 5 tape measures
I tend to have lots of tape measures (12+) & pencils as I’m forever going in the workshop to cut up timber etc for a job then after loading it in the van I’ll invariably leave with the pencil & tape I’ve just used in my pocket, after a day on site I inevitably forget to return said pencil and tape to the workshop when I get home.
They gradually build up in the front of the van until there are no more in the shop at which point I’ll fetch half a dozen & put them back on the shelf.
I still think a gob of hot melt adhesive is the way to go! CHEAP! (Like me...)I have these little wire clips which go in the holes either side of the peg, passing over it to retain the peg. Works well.

Ah, but my clips came with the pegs. Even cheaper.I still think a gob of hot melt adhesive is the way to go! CHEAP! (Like me...)
Sorry, @JonCamo beat me to it by a few days.Could you elaborate on the use of French Cleats here a little please? I'm not sure what you mean. Thanks.
I've been reading this thread with interest as I need to sort out some wall mounted tool storage.
God, Doug, you have no idea how much better that confession - from a professional like yourself - makes me feel. I've trailed along behind you on Instagram and marveled at your organisation and the structured layout in your workspace. To find that you are as absent-minded and distracted as the rest of us, takes away a lot of self-flagellation and makes me feel better as I slowly rotate in my huckster workshop, saying; "I had it in my hand 30 seconds ago, I know I set it down, WHY can I not find it? I haven't moved my feet..."If you look carefully there are 5 tape measures

I discovered a nifty trick a few months ago, once a couple of pencils get below usable length, say 70mm, square the ends, make a 1/2" cut lengthways, CA a thin strip of laminate in and join together, bit of sanding and voila, decent size double ended pencil...there is a certain diminishing length of pencil after which it is sure to appear in the washing machine...
Just like screws in the tumble dryer.Apropos pencils-
Both my benches eat pencils.....and

And when you go to put it behind your ear, you poke your eye out with a pointed bit of lead.I discovered a nifty trick a few months ago, once a couple of pencils get below usable length, say 70mm, square the ends, make a 1/2" cut lengthways, CA a thin strip of laminate in and join together, bit of sanding and voila, decent size double ended pencil
a) I wear hearing aids, (left ear is dead) so no longer able to stick a pencil behind ear, and b) hand to eye co-ordination is just fine, so can't imagine being a problem, YMMV of courseAnd when you go to put it behind your ear, you poke your eye out with a pointed bit of lead.
Yep, that's my worry, my hand coordinates to my eyea) I wear hearing aids, (left ear is dead) so no longer able to stick a pencil behind ear, and b) hand to eye co-ordination is just fine, so can't imagine being a problem, YMMV of course
The usual protocol is to scream 'FFS where has my pencil gone?' then check behind both earsApropos pencils-

I feel for you, I haven't moved so it must be somewhere within arms length, but no it has done a Harry Potter and disappeared.
