Wall storage

Hi

Planning storage solutions for when my shed is finished. I currently gave this style pegboard in my garage and get annoyed when I lift a tool off it and the hook invariably comes with it. Is this just a bad example and are there better makes on the market?
Or any alternative solutions?

Sheet of 12mm ply hung on a french cleat then I use screws for the ‘pegs’. Likely not as attractive as a true peg board but functional and infinitely reconfigurable.

If you got a 3d printer or access to one there are hundreds of designs available free on the likes of thingiverse.com , bambu makerworld etc. Everything from basic peg hooks to elaborate sets for all manner of tools cans, glue trays boxes etc.
I like if because it's robust and easily expanded as your needs change.

Pegboard is a manifestation of the devil...

I favour roofing batten screwed to the wall with squares of3/8" ply screwed thereto and a big bag of tool clips (see below)

You can with a little aforethought securely stow a lot of tools in a small area as you are not wholly dependent on gravity to define their positions. Paint the ply with white emulsion, then one can draw around tools to a. Remind you where they should be stowed b. Which tool is 'missing'.

Mine is shown below, very simple just 40mm batons fixed vertically to the wall with timbers fixed horizontally to those leaving gaps for cantilever shelves to fit between.
At the base I added some drawers for small components, the shelves are made to accommodate my most used tools & are very simple to make.
