Manufacture stamp anywhere?
Looks like it would happily hold round stock, pipes, bars etc on end for cutting and machining.

I thought this thread might be about drugs and alcohol.... never mind 😔

It looks like the front set of 'jaws' have a bar across them at the back, to act as a stop? Whereas the back pair appear to be missing theirs.
Id bet if you found the proper name, cleaned it up etc, it'd go for a bit on ebay

If those moveable jaws could be angled both out and back, the vice could be wound in reverse to hold large bore pipe vertically - the jaws expanding inside the pipe.

Well worth 50, looks ideal for holding odd shaped pieces on a pillar drill or for hand toolery

Well, I have it, it's a lump. I have some pics but until I work out why my phone won't download them there they'll stay. There are no maker's marks on it, but it has two initials and a two digit number in the casting on the underside and 27 stamped into the jaw sections. The acme thread is huge - at least 25mm diameter - but it's very well gummed up atm. The jaws wind in and out opposing each other, next to no wear, though. The four jaws can be set parallel which is useful. The whole thing needs a good soak in Jizer, especially the slides and thread. Greasing should free it up a little, there is a grease nipple for the purpose.

Great stuff
Jizer? I almost didnt want to ask, but then it occurred to me that it could be cornish cider and I'd be missing out not knowing 😆🤣

Everyone knows the best cider comes from Herefordshire......

(Ducks and runs before the Somerset members start throwing dabinetts)
