Hi All,
Can anyone please give me some info about this stuff, what is the active ingredient? It would appear to be marginally more valuable than gold by the millilitre, why so?
What is it s methodology in use? Presumably it displaces oxidising molecules?
Regards
Martin

My grandad was a joiner and cabinet maker and used mothballs as a VPI, and I followed suit. They seem to work. At least they're cheap...I put one mothball in each old 35mm film pot, with holes drilled in the lid. Witchcraft or chemistry? Love to know!

This enough detail?

I always use a piece of felt soaked in very light machine oil in an old tobacco tin base, in the 1960's my tool cupboard had a pygmy bulb mounted under the same and never a sign of rust in 12 years at the property.
