Just to bring you all upto date.
These turnings were the last ones i turned on my old bench, but never got round to posting them up,due to computer problems

These are a pair of natural edge bowls made from the same log split in half.Finished with food safe oil.

This one is the result of an experiment i done last year for those who remember.
I put some part turned bowls into my compost heap to see what would happen.Spalting etc.
And this is the result.
It is Sycamore, and it as gone a brownish colour.

Finally a selection of Tea lighters, all made from off cuts of Spalted Sycamore.First attempt at making these :D

Hi Paul,

I like the natural edge bowls, very nice.

Are the glass tea light holders from Ikea ? I went there myself last week, about £1.69 for 12 at that price you can't go wrong :D

Steve

I like the shape of the natural edge bowls, almost boat like from the angle of the piccy 8) . Did the sycamore bowl start out really pale and how long did you leave it in the compost?

Nicely done with all of them,Paul - like the natural-edge bowls, the large sycamore bowl has a lovely colour to it,and a nice variety of tea-light holders (the egg-cup style is my favourite, might make some like that myself.. )

Thanks again for the comments. :D
Steve.Yes the t-lighters did come from Ikea, though i got them from Chas at the bash :D
Johnny. The wood was light when i put it in the compost bin,
I have just found the original post and they went in last May,and i took them out in June.
I also put some in hedge cuttings which didn't do anything, nor did the ones i put in shavings. :(

Good result on getting the colour into the sycamore Paul, so often the grey stain/mould takes over and just gives it a dirty appearance.
