Up-cycled japanese chisel box

Morning gents.
I recently acquired some jap chisels. They arrived in a horrible toolzone roll (yuk) seeing a previous thread and another on:

I wanted to make a box that was suited to the tools it contains.
My design is loosely based on that of the links, up-cycled timber was from a box lid I had.

How we started..

Dismantled and nails pulled. Because the wood is so thin it split where the nails where, so after this step I had 4 lengths, 2 battons and lots of split bits.

This boxes sizes and worked around the chisels. The battons where jointed to make the one of either ends

Because I wanted a stable (flat) bottom I used some better ply, the box was to intend using small nails and glue, trying to be traditional
I'm happy with the result..

The lid is so simple and effective I just love it.
When I build another It will be able to sit on top.

All that's left is to practise japanese symbols and then apply a couple to box for aesthetic (TT)

I will me making a western style jap box next. Using nicer woods (hard woods) and joints.

Links working ok for me though it would be easier if the images were embedded on the thread

Tapatalk doesn't show them as links just broken images. That'll be the problem.

Not good, why do you think the links are Broke? Not being a computer wiz I struggle to upload pics.

Toby, if you go to full editor and put your image URL (that's the links above) between IMG tags (they tell the computer it's an image file) then they will display simply for people within the thread.

Although having said that, I've just tried to do it with both yours and my Dropbox urls and it didn't work. I'm not sure why - I thought I had done it in the past from Dropbox (although I use photobucket myself, generally). It might be to do with the length of the URL.

Does anyone here use Dropbox for images?

I think its because the URL's are https:// not http://

Secure status appears to be blocking browser direct links.

I'm going to convert to using a diffrent photo stream system, photo bucket

Those clamps do resemble rhinos haha, good clamps if you ask me.

After all this I hope some liked the box and the concept
