I've got loads of branch wood (literally 3 car boots worth) which was why I originally thought of a very chunky single turned leg with 3 feet at its base. The problem is that anything turned will look extremely manmade and I think that would jar too much with the natural top. That has given me an idea though, one of the pieces is the equivalent of a natural edge leg which if I can figure out a way of joining might just work. It would look a little mushroom like with that approach. The piece I'm thinking of is almost completely hollow, its so rotten and ancient but the outside has kind of ossified. It looks jst like driftwood only older and more gnarly. That would be the perfect design element if I can figure out how to join it and make it stable. Now where's that ten gallon drum of epoxy!

Take the other side of the cut and bookend match them on the cut edge (biscuit joint). Go to the forge and get a scroll work wrought iron set of legs made in black. The top will be the focus and the legs (support) should disappear into the background.

Just to stay on wood turning topic I think you should turn a bowl and fill it with spheres of matching yew.
