Good evening, can you tell me wheres a good place to buy turning blanks from
Im looking for somewhere that has a good selection of different timber
Im making a pedestal table and want to make the pedestal up of the differant timbers

I get mine from peter childs. I believe they do a mail order service :D
you really are going all out on this table aren't you
 
Hi Dave.

Steve Wright at Elston sawmill is a excellent supplier of native turning blanks, though most of his stuff is only part seasoned, it is quite reasonably priced.

He`s just off the A46 near Newark, but stands at a lot of the woodturning clubs within a large radius of Newark.


What timber are you after?
 
Hi Doug thanks for your reply, Im making a table out of maple and was lookig for some differant types of contrasting timber to make up the pedestal it will be just what looks good to my eye as aits a college piece that Im making

Hi Dave

I can also recommend Steve Wright. It's been a while since I have been up there but I had some big fiddle back sycamore bowl blanks and some yew boards which produced some really nice work. His prices were really fair too.
