I'm looking for a tubular heater that includes a thermostat for frost protection.

So far I haven't been able to track one down. Lots of heaters and lots of thermostats but no heaters with thermostats.

Anyone know of any that are of course reasonably priced?

Probably best to have a separate thermostat. If it was built in it would be close to the heat source and probably not give reliable frost protection throughout the other parts of the room/garage/workshop.
In the old days of nationalised electricity supply we often designed frost protection installations for agricultural buildings, and the general approach was to distribute the tubular heaters around the room as evenly as possible, and site the stat in the most sensitive area, ie where there were water services, or in the coldest part of the room, within around 500mm of the floor, and in a spot where there was fairly free air movement.

I heat my greenhouse and have found that a seperate plug stat is far more accurate and eliable than the stats that are on the heater. I now use a device that plugs into the mains socket and the heater plugs into it. You can get them from City Electrical and also at the bigger B&Qs for not much more.
