Dear All

I have just ordered a TS4020 panel saw for my workshop. Yippee!

As a complete neebie with machinery like this I am looking for any advice for set up and use. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Phil

Yes, have them deliver it to my workshop and I'll do all the testing and comissioning for you...

Only joking, I'm sure you'll be very happy together.

Cheers, Ed

Congratulations!

I've had it's little brother, the 2500 (pre C.I. ), for about 6 years now. When I ordered it from NMA the man said: "I guarantee you won't regret it", he was right, I never have. I expect you'll have a long and happy life together.
:eek:ccasion5:

I beg to differ Mark. The very first time I nobbled you for help was when I needed a piece of batten cut at 45 degrees. If you hadn't had that saw then the 101 favours that ensued would not have existed and your life would be much simpler.

:D

Hi Phillip,

I hope you enjoy using that saw.

But please. if you are a real newbie, don't assume it will be set-up properly on delivery. No end of adjustments can get knocked about in transit, that is if the suppliers even set it up right to begin with.

If it isn't set-up properly, it won't cut well; you could have an accident at worst and at best you'll think the saw is not much use.

I have an article somewhere that I had published in one of the mags. If you need it, I will sort it out for you and you are welcome to peruse.

At any rate, I would advise buying one of the better books on the table-saw.

Regards
John :)

Do you mean Panel Saw Bench?

I had some wood cut today on one of these, I would love one!

Chems, I think this is the saw that Phil has just bought.

A panel saw is much more than your basic benchtop "table saw" - it will handle larger sheet materials comfortably and allow you to crosscut timber accurately with some form of sliding table or beam. Dimension saws are quite similar but, they don't offer the same capacities and not all models provide the option for a scoring blade (a real boon for splinter-free cuts on veneered stuff). :)

What is a "better book on table saws"?
Please advise on what one is looking for or a publisher recommendation.

Thanks for your suggestions gentlemen.

I am a previous aircraft engineer so quite experienced in metal working machinery but very new and inexperienced with woodworking equipment. So every bit of help is appreciated.

Benchwayze. Thanks for the book suggestion.I will order the book that you have suggested and I would really like to read the article that you previously wrote if you can find it. I will let you know how I get on with the set up.

Thank you
Regards
Philip
