Toy cows by turning

It's still being done - most commonly little farms sets of painted wood from E Europe. You can find them in toy and gift shops. You can tell they are turned by the wedge shape. Luckily cows etc are wedge shaped from above, so I suppose it's a technique suitable for anything with a fat B U M
 
I saw this at the Harrogate show two or three years ago, it seemed like an interesting experiment/novelty. I never realised it actually had a practical application. I must talk to people more. :roll:

She'd have to be on all fours and you couldn't make one, it's multiples only!

I think they look pretty cool. I'll try to find the O'Donnell article and post the info here.
They look simple, but I seem to remember he advises some careful planning, as it can be a reet b'strd to get the shaping right on the re-chuck.
