Tormek 7 and 2000

I was looking at Tormeks today in Elmers in Kesgrave. They had a T7 and 2000 side by side and apart from the colour (Blue v Green). The only other differences I could see were the graduations on the tool rest on the T7 and two clamping nuts on the horizontal mounting position.

Is there such a big difference?

i have no experience of the 2000 but have the T7 which I find is excellent for my needs

We had a 2000 a few years ago in a workshop and I think it’s an old model that has been replaced by the T7.

The T7 has several improvements over the earlier models. In particular, several parts are now stainless steel so they don't rust.

They had one on the shelf that was incomplete, after much deliberation I bought it with a 10% discount, only thing missing was a basic sharpening guide.
One went on Ebay yesterday second hand for the same price I paid at Elmers. They are a good bunch of guys at Elmers.

I was going to say that you could have bought an oilstone and bundle of rags instead but that might start an argument - so I won't :wink:

The T7 is definitely the most up to date model and has been for a few years now. All the jigs work with the 2000 though

I have got loads of rags and an oil stone.. Just ran out of oil so I bought the Tormek.. LOL

Apologies for slight thread hijack but anyone know where to get a new stainless steel shaft for a 2000 for a reasonable price? Can't help thinking £50 is somewhat steep
