Tool box/chest hardware

I'm just about to make a toolbox in the style of the traditional joiners suitcase type box, in birch ply, for my travelling joinery tools. I'm looking for the hardware - side handles, top handle, metal corners, latches etc.. and wondering if anyone has somewhere to recommend.

I know Rutlands have them but they seem so expensive.

Any tips appreciated.

Can be a pain to search through, but ebay can often source what you need. Is this just a general chest you're after Ed or something you're planning for a new line of work?

If you want "antique" styles Ed, then I use Relics as they are local to me, but they are also most helpful on the phone. Will always get small quantities in, if needs be. The website is a little crude, but the shop itself is wonderful .

No, nothing new, although that potential exists around the next corner for everyone in construction at the moment. Its something I've been meaning to make for a while, just finally getting round to it.

What tipped me into getting it done, was that while doing the deck recently I must have made about 20 different trips to the workshop before I had all the things I needed. I have a general toolbox with the stuff I need for household type jobs, but all the more joinery specific stuff is in the workshop. I have enough duplicates ( ) to make up a travelling set which I can also use on site when occasionally needed.

I've used Maplin before for flight case and PA speaker type hardware - corners, hinges etc. At least you can pop in and see what they look like. They stood up well to my gigging days :shock:.
