Hi Steve.

Thanks for that but if the Axminsters are reliable?think I'll pay £3.30 for em.
They're even dearer at Wealdons.
:)

Hi George,

Yes, the cheap Axminster toggle clamps work very well. I have some (Type B, rather than the Type A, & in the two smaller capacities.) I am very happy with their performance on the small work-holding jig I'm currently using them on.

They seem sturdy and well enough made, and they do what they are meant to do - ie hold things down firmly with no fuss.

My partner thinks they are a bargain, btw, and I hadn't realised how expensive other toggle clamps can be until he expressed his pleasant surprise at the price of the Axminster ones - and I then had a look at offerings from other suppliers.

I actually bought mine from Axminster on impulse as I was after something to make my order up to the £50 that qualifies for free shipping!

Yep, they should be fine - I'm sure the ones I've used at college came from Axminster. Most toggle clamps are adjustable in some way, to compensate for minor variations in thickness, and width of narrow components.

Ok I'm about to order these clamps, hoever what does it mean by 15mm to 50mm? Is that the clamping distance from locked to workpice height?

Thanks.
