To shed or not to shed, that is the question...

What about building one from breeze blocks etc? they seem quite cheap to buy and would be easy to build (giant lego kit) get some reclaimed upvc door/windows etc and you would have a nice solid and secure shed

I would have thought breeze blocks would definitely require some form of approval from planning because breeze blocks would not be classed as a 'temporary structure'. Whether you need full planning would be dependant on individual authorities rules. Some conservatories can even be built without full planning but you would need to make sure by checking with them first.

Benchwayze, Wow 15m from a house and 5m from a boundary wall, that's tough.

I'm in a conservation area (and Scotland) so there are no permitted development rights, which meant I had to get planning permission. My experience was that it wasn't too difficult, used sketchup based drawings, and meant I could design something I wanted. Added a couple of hundred to the total build price, but overall it'll be about 7% of the total which isn't too painful to get a much more functional and better looking man cave.

I'm planning on building a 10x8 shed from scratch myself. Seeing as it will be in the corner of gargen against the rear of a garage and neighbours fence I'll be screwed for maintaining the cladding some I'm either going to use Cedral or HardiePlank cladding. Not sure on the roof material yet, if I can get a steep enough pitch I'd like to use similar tiles to the garage but that means extra weight so a beefier roof. Should outlast me though

In a similar situation, I used an old hand-pressurised, garden spray to spray the parts of my shed I couldn't get to. The sprayer had one of those 'wand' type nozzles which just managed the job on a 10 x 6 shed.

It didn't do the sprayer much good, but it did last for half a dozen sprays, (And a boundary fence that's been up 18 years now) before the washers perished!
