My mate Tim from that there London wanted a go at turning, so we decided to make a sycamore bowl. All I did was cut the size in the back for the chucking point. I think he did rather well with the only help from me in the form of words

Very nice bowl indeed - Tim should be really proud of that. Did he enjoy making wood shavings?

When I had a friend visit last year who wanted a go at wood turning, all he wanted to make was a pair of drumsticks and a tealight holder - but then he is a drummer and the tealight holder was a pressie for his mum!

Tim sure did well, not many get to produce such a well balanced and finished piece first time, thanks johnny for introducing someone else to the pleasures of the turning world

Hi Johnny,
Well done to Tim you look to be a natural in the making so watch out Johnny another two years and you might have some more competition now you have sown the seed!!
Great first bowl!
Regards,
Ian

Tim loved it, the best thing was he listened to what I said and did it, resulting in a 100% tool mark/tearout free finish. He's house sitting for a relative in a couple of weeks who has a lathe, so he's going to try some more turning then. 8)
