At this moment I have one of those tiny thunder bugs moving across my LCD screen, not on the outside but on the bloody inside its driving me mad.

Ah, is that what they are called? I get them just about every year inside my LCD monitor - so far not encountered any this year.

I was warned against trying to open the screen to clear them out because apparently you are pretty much certain of ruining the monitor.

Hi,
Seal it in a bag and put it in the freezer, then let it warm up to room temperature (in the bag) before using it.

I had something like that marching across the viewfinder of my old Pentax film camera. Apparently, that was a dust mite somewhat magnified.

I must be lucky, or maybe thunder bugs don't get this far north!

Good luck getting rid of it Newt.

John :)

The darn thing is now dead and its in the middle of the screen, I think I will try a blst of air from the compressor.

Slighly off, topic. but folklore has it is - and generally acknowledged as probably true,- the term "Bugs" in relation to computers, came about due to some kind of insect (believed to be a cockroach after the warmth)crawling inside one of the very earlier semi mechanical computers, caused a relay to stick. Hence "bugs in the system".

Just my tuppence worth!

Never Mind Newt.

It will rot down and you can truly say your PC is 'green'...

Sorry I don't have anything constructive to offer. I don't know much about the inside of monitors. Just hope I don't get struck.

John
