Is the Record Power SC2 the only direct thread 33 x 3.5mm Mini Chuck available in the UK? The Rutlands and Charnwood 70mm Chucks look nice but they’re only in 1” x 8 tpi. Both companies offer rather large M33 adapters for them which defeats the object for me. I already have an SC2 but would like to take advantage of some different Jaw styles. The range of SC2 Jaws is rather limited.

I'm not sure why people think they need a small chuck to hold small things. I use an Axminster 100mm chuck but have a range of jaws which will grip any diameter from a few mm up to near 400mm. The O'Donnell jaws are good for allowing access on the chuck side too.

I did buy a cheap 2" chuck some years ago but have never found a need to use it!

I asked a simple question. Instead of being argumentative why not just accept that I want a small chuck?

I want another small chuck for use on my threading jig, where a small and light chuck is a distinct advantage for the work I do.

After looking around the Record Power SC3 looks to be the best option at the moment.

I started out with an SC3 and with a few extra jaws it does all I need. But, over time I have acquired an SC4 and SC2, on "too good to miss" deals. The SC2 is the one I use the most, happy up to 9 inch bowis and easy to get round for small stuff, plus it's a nice thing in it's own right, I will keep it as a shiny paperweight when I give up turning. I have the standard jaws which give me similar range to the 35mm jaws on the SC3. Plus a small screw which is handy. They do a dome, pin and pen plus a faceplate so that's not a bad selection.

I think Rutlands now do a 70mm chuck kit with the right thread and a selection of jaws, might be worth a look but £160.

You can do small things in big chucks, but I rather like the neat small one.
