I finished this awl for a customer at the weekend.
I love working with Cocobolo, and for me, there is nothing like a dark timber married with Stainless components.
This one measures 156mm overall.
The hardened spike is made of silver steel drill rod).
There is a small flat (unseen in these pictures) worked on the ball. This not only prevents the awl from rolling off the bench but is positioned to place the very tip of the tool clear of the bench surface.
It can be gripped in the palm of the hand with the index finger resting on the spike to mark, or to scribe it can be held similar to a pencil.

Thanks for looking.

Adam.

Very nicely done. The photographs/branding work very well indeed

Thanks for the kind words everyone.
Grayorm-yes, it is very satisfying. I often carry a part finished tool around for days to get a feel for how it handles before committing to the final shaping.
I'm so pleased with this one it will become the standard pattern from here on.
All the best.
Adam.
