Thanks for the kind comments folks. The relief is quite something, perhaps a little dented by the fact the youngest is still not out the woods yet. His leg is now free of the metal frame but the surgery site is still very inflamed and painful. His mobility is slowly returning but it is very slow. I'm counting my blessings though and he is on the mend so we're heading in the right direction. Your well wishes throughout this have been really welcomed so again...thanks

It's yet another example of us "being born" at the right time. Her cancer type was a death sentence only ten years ago. A wonder drug called Herceptin was conceived and it's made all the difference. Apparently it costs (this may be urban myth but that's what the haematology nurses tell us) £1400 per jab and SWMBO is on this for 18 jabs!! It's times like this when you realise just how incredibly valuable the NHS is. I dread to think what her total care cost will have been for this last 8 months (let alone the complex bone surgery on the little one) and yet it hasn't bankrupted our family. Thank goodness we don't live in the US!
