It's official. I'm hooked on wood turning.
I'm new to wood turning as well as social media, computers and forums. I didn't know what a forum was until 3 weeks ago.
I have a busy workshop making doors, windows and staircases. So not got much spare time. I got an old lathe just recently and have been messing around on it after everyone has gone home. Not really knowing anything but enjoyed it. It gets a bit cold quickly in the workshop once everyone has gone and the constant where are you texts from my good lady so I'm not getting much practice in. I must get the lathe home to my garage so I can pop out after dinner and start turning properly.
My son told me about this forum. I asked for some info and had great advice from numerous people. . I came across this traveller guy. A traveller on the road of time. He introduced me into an other world. A world I never new existed. I saw stuff that blew me away. I wouldn't be able to do that !!! But he showed me how. I wouldn't be able to do it safely. But he showed me how. I wouldn't be able finish stuff off. But he showed me how.
I've seen how. I just need to do.
I'm starting to clearing out my garage today. I'm going to insulate it properly and make it comfortable. I'm going to bring the lathe home. I'll make mistakes. I'll refer back to the scriptures that the traveller showed me to find out where I went wrong. It's a BIBLE. It's always going to be there to refer back to.
Thanks traveller guy.
I'll keep you all posted.

In all honesty you've missed out on a lot of negatives, too...

Whereabouts in Edinburgh are you..? I'm across the Forth in Fife.

Hi. My workshop is just down at mayfield ind est. What are the negatives I missed out you mentioned? Cheers. G

Hi Nev. Yes Sharpening. Thought that was just me. I'm adapting an old linisher machine I have. I've welded on a outrigging bracket to take a tormek tool rest that I had laying around. I might get a few more accessories for it if it works good. I've got various grit belts for it. From 120 to 400. If I can work out how to send photos I will do so. Cheers. G
