The time

Help Support UKworkshop.co.uk:

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.
The forum runs on GMT all year, so if you want the time to be correct when the UK moves to BST you need to adjust your profile to GMT+1 hour.
However if you don't logon, your profile is not applied so you see the times as GMT.

Does that help? :-s

Harsh. Search engine is fine if you know how to use it correctly. Could you do better?

i've dabbled with vb, but no i proberbly couldn't do better ,but i'm not making money out of it!
I'm just making a point if you wana try and hide it that's up to you.

Hi,

Sorry I forgot to change the time on the forum - I've done it now

I assume you mean the forum software as the current site is just standard HTML. phpBB is free, easy to use and seems to be popular.

The spell checker is an addon, you don't have to use it. I personally prefer to use the one that's built into Mac OS.

The forum search does work (for me anyway), you have to make sure you choose 'search all terms' for better results.

Nothing I can do about the local time I'm afraid, you could always move to another time zone if you're not happy with BST

Neither are we..

making money? Who's making money, UKW isn't and neither are the coders/contributers who make the forum scripts. I aint hiding nothing just feel your comments are harsh and slightly disprectful to the people who have put this excellent site/forum together.

Charley,thank's for the time change.
mac......i prefer ms windows myself.
The search engine is poor, the spellchecker is poor, but if you don't want positive feedback there both fine.
If you do this for nothing then thank you.
Not quite sure what you mean about the time zone? :)

Andy

Use the free Google spellchecker that comes with the Goggle toolbar. That works as well as the one in MS office and underlines all spelling errors.

Or learn to spell or ignore your mistakes.

The search engine as mentioned does work fine, why not follow the tips that have been posted numerous times on the forum to learn how to use it.

Oh, and finally; by saying everything is **** is not positive feedback. Suggesting improvements or solutions would be positive.

As has been mentioned a few times recently, a Google search with "site:ukworkshop.co.uk" added provides a comprehensive site search (or ukworkshop.co.uk/forums if you want to narrow it down to just the forum) if you find the forum one difficult. In fact I'm reminded that Adam asked if I'd do a quick guide to searching the forum and I haven't. #-o  I'll see if I can do something about that today.

Cheers, Alf

The reason i like to spell check is because if you get into a dispute on a forum
(doesn't happen on here much because people are generally mature)as a last resort
or first depending on the person they have a go at your spelling i.e. ***** as opposed to ****.
The original post wasn't meant to offend just a bit of banter (although true,so therefore positive feedback).

Thanks for the ideas on how to search in other ways :)

Oh and one last thing...... Byron you seem to have taken the roll of sinner basher!
i'm quite happy with my spelling ability.
You shouldn't have to learn how to use a search engine!
How do you know they don't make money?

"you shouldn't have to learn to use a search engine" - how much more ignorant can that be? Do you expect to have your hand held in everything? Of course you dont. You sound like an intelligent bloke, i'm sure you can work it out with the helpful text on the search page.

Anyway's. I don't mean to be a sinner basher, sorry if thats the way it came over.

"they" provide me with a welcome service that costs me nothing.
If "they" were earning millions from the site, I'd be more than happy with that. Logic suggests "they" actually earn nothing.

The fact that this site has so much happening on it shows that the issues you consider **** are of no consequence to the rest of us.

Byron leaps to "their" defence as he recognises the value we get.

However don't be afraid to continue to rock the boat, I find it quite cute; reminds me of when I was 10 and determined to shock.

Well put. This site, and the genuine helpful welcome I have received from people on it, have been invaluable to me.

And I've not really had any trouble with the search function. Alf does it for me...
