Thinking of changing my DML 305 for the Sip 01936!!
Reason, I like the 305, but would like the variable option of the Sip plus speed readout.
They look the same build, just wondered if any member has one and could maybe offer comments/advice...good or bad!
Does the Sip have the built-in 12 step locator in the headstock?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi Gerry,
Another option would be the newly introduced lathe from Axi - the 1218VS

The motors on these cheaper lathes are DC variable speed rather than inverter controlled induction motors. So their minimum speed is definately on the high side - I think these are in the region of 500 RPM minimum which isn't exactly slow and will be noticably higher than your Record.

In short these are ok for hobby occasional use but I'm not sure they're spec'd for continuous use over long periods.
