The Longevity of a Wooden Shed?

My workshop used to have an extremely overhanging roof down one side, like a four foot deep porch. Naturally I extended into that space  by laying some more concrete and building a new outer wall [double skinned block]
However the new eave height was a bit low and I wanted to have a door there, I'm not tall but I would have had to stoop to enter. So using my trolley jack, temporary cross members and props I jacked the roof up so that I could add another layer of blocks. The roof is fully tiled, so plenty of loading.
It does of course help that the there are no cross members in the roof it's self, just a central steel girder with timbers rested between that and the walls on either side, so in effect I was lifting just one half of the roof up on a central hinge, like a page-down open book.
Ramble over, just saying there are ways and means.
