ok so I start a thread about computers and get home to find my lovely mac is poorly :(

anyhow it turns out its a power supply issue from an external firewire disk, its a strange dual rail (5v/12v)ac adaptor , 6 pin din (a bit like ps2 mouse/keyboard).

I haven't had the time to google it yet, anyone got any ideas where best to find a replacement?

the disk enclosure is a generic brand that has gone under.

Hi Steve

Does your power supply have a part number on it and if so have you tried ebay? I have one of these and was going to dig around for some info this morning.

But then in a rash moment I installed two updates on my Mac and am now facing a pale blue screen of death. The jinx is spreading.....

sorted the power supply, got a spare on order.

dual rail supply 5v and 12v, 12v rail went down so the lights all still came on and the drive made funny noises, threw me for a bit and I thought the drive was shot, took me quite a while to factor out the ac brick.

still sorted now.

I have tried maplins, at work we use CPC who are alot cheaper and stock massive amounts of cool toys !
