I don't know if htis is hte right place to put this....
I'm trying to finish these cones as part of a proejct but I am not happy with tarnishing on the surface......

The wood is oak (I hope!), it have noticed that pieces cut off fairly recently don't seeem to show this so much....is it a reaction with the wood to air over a couple of days?
It doesn't sand off easily!
How do I get rid of it.....can anyone help , please?
