Looking for a new tablesaw (my Triton then EZ Smart system were both sold on for varying reasons).

I was set on the TS200, however I am moving home next year and the portability of the GTS10 started to seem like a good idea (although its not a necessity - I only do home woodworking).

I was hoping for some opinions on which one is the better saw and if the Bosch is worth the £100 extra that it currently sells for?

Hi mike, I have never owned or even used the Bosch so cannot comment on that brand but I do own an Axi TS200, so, it's a bit of a pig to set up and fettle, but once done it's done and very accurate, it has a nice quiet induction motor an excellent sliding carriage and a fair sized r/h extension table, several forum members have removed this and replaced it with 18mm mfmdf and incorporated an inverted router in it so saving space, mine cost me £278.00 with FREE delivery, probably a bit dearer now though, the mitre fence is a good size (lengthwise) and has an adjustable stop on it for repeat cuts, all in all, good value for money imo.

Regards,

Rich.

The TS200 is certainly looking tempting and at only 69kg it should be relatively easy to move anyway.

I did wonder if anybody ever felt the 60mm depth of cut was a limitation?

Also, can you remember how it was delivered? It is still snowing pretty badly around here and trying to move it in one piece could be tricky!!

Mike,
I have also been looking for a small table saw.

I like the Axminster and it has had good comments from other forum members, but I do feel the 200mm blade is a bit limiting so I decided to look for a 250mm bladed saw.

I have looked at the Bosch and equivalent Makita saws, they are both nice bits of kit but share the same mitre gauge which (in my opinion) is a little loose in the slot (like you I am a hobby woodworker and have no real qualificaions so this is just a personal opinion).

I have decided to go for the Record TS200C, which has not had very good comments from other forum members but has good magazine reviews and Ben Plewes of Good Woodworking has one. I had a look at one at the Ally Pally show and saw it in action, the students on one of the challenges were using it. On paper it has everything I want, only time will tell if it is any good.

You can get a wheel set for it which makes it easy to move around but it may be too big/heavy/expensive for what you want.

Before you decide I do urge you to go and have a look at some saws so you can have a play with them.

Good luck with the search - Martin.

Hi Mike, Mine came in 3 lots, stand, table and extension table, I just needed my lad for 2 minutes to lift the table onto the newly assembled stand, easy, the only fidgety bit was when it came to fitting the side extension table and fiddling with the shims provided, the whole assembly took me an hour and 3 cups of tea.

Thanks Rich. That should be doable then.

I did look at the Record but there were a few point I didn't like and I also can't justify the price at the moment.

The Axi is planned to be a 2-3 stop gap to get wedding/house/promotion sorted before dropping a months salary on something ridiculous!! Unfortunately they are out of stock until the end of next week. :x
