I have a cheap 1/4 router (Screwfix own brand I think) and a bigger better one. 9/10 times I use the little one as it's just easier. For under £50+bits it's a useful tool to have.
I also have the Festool track saw (brilliant) but for many years people have used sawboards quite happily with a circular saw, so you may not need to spend money there. A sawboard should have a sacrificial surface... it's not just running a saw along a straight-edge.
In your shoes I'd probably get a basic 1/4 router and basic biscuit joiner (or pocket screws if you prefer) and get started!
