Hi,
I'm setting up my own workshop after leaving a larger one to go solo. I'm looking for advice on buying a table saw in the central scotland area. i've looked at web sites for the Jet jts250cs and the similarly priced Scheppach. As my budget is around 1300, I'd like to see one "in the flesh", but cant seem to find anywhere in the area that carries stock to look at. Does anyone know of anywhere or have any thoughts on what to go for. Any shows coming up anywhere?
Thanks

Hi iainmoff

Welcome to the forum.

This is the Show Dates Thread. Unfortunately, there are few quality distributors who take their kit to the shows.

If you do go down the Jet route, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Cheers

The Scheppach TS2500Ci with sliding carriage and table extensions is offered by Machine Mart at http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/p...th/table-saws-workshop-saws-2/brand/scheppach. If you phone round, perhaps you might be able to find a local branch that has one? There's a store list at http://www.machinemart.co.uk/pages/stores

As you are trade have you thought about the alternatives in terms of secondhand? For £1300 you could probably snare a secondhand Wadkin SP130 (3-phase only) - 12in blade (10in with the scorer on), scorer and half-size sliding carraige running split at the the blade (i.e. a true slider not a bolt-on carraige) which will crosscut an 8 x 4 sheet:

or alternativly the SCM-Minimax equivalent the SI 5 or the bigger SI 12, which have a similar spec. This is an SI 12 which fetched about £1000 recently and even has an independent crown guard:

Both these machines are commercial machibes and well ablr to withstand heavy use.
