Table Saw Advice - under £250

Hello

Wondering if any members can help on advice on Table Saws, narrowed down to :-

1. Woodstar ST12L 315mm - Screwfix - £210

2. SIP 01350 12" - Ebay ~ £245

Both are portable, good sized blades. Cant find any reviews of Woodstar, if being conservative then SIP Contractors saw seems stronger.

Any experiences ??

It's been re-listed, it went for less than £250 before.

Thanks for feedback.

The second option isn't very portable but is a gift. The first option seems good and Axminster has good quality kit, can add wheels to make portable, not sure if side table extension can be removed to save space when not in use(?).

If i upped budget to £270 what do you think of the "Jet JTS-315 S" from Axminster?

Any other saws in this new budget work recommending?

New table saw to replace scheppach 315 i just sold (hope i've done the right thing)...

I've been using the 10" SIP as a site table saw and am underwhelmed by the fence.

I'd second the Triton, I have one and think it is good VFM. A second hand setup would be even better, especially if you fit the Triton saw in the Workcentre. It has loads of power and a reasonable depth of cut. The fence is rock solid as it locks at both ends. You also have the option of using it in crosscut mode, where it will give most of the functionality of a sliding compound mitre saw. The Workcentre stand will also take the Triton router table top, so all in all a very versatile piece of kit. Sorry if this sounds like an advert, I'm just a happy Triton owner.

Doug I have just re-read this and noticed your comments about the Jet. As much as a fan of Jet tools that I am, I wouldn't look at this saw. It is a very rough saw meant for site work. Not for furniture or cabinetmaking.

The TS-200 is your best bet in this price bracket IMHO. Unless your interested in my Triton.

Thanks for your comments, i'm in Fife (just north of Edinburgh), which is a pain as most decent saws are more south of me !

Has anyone had any experience of Charnwoord W625 saw? www.charnwood.net are doing a deal with extension and Sliding Carriage for £239 inc vat. Looks reasonable robust.

I hadn't considered the Triton workcentre, will do some research...

no no no, that's a site saw. Meant for rough ripping. Steer Clear. For that money you could get either of the saws I listed above which are much better
