Hi all!

This is my first post on this forum, so excuse me if this topic has been brought up before!!

I have been using a Sheppach site table saw that I inherited from my dad about ten years ago (kind of like an older model of the TKU4000) It is an absolute workhorse but its accuracy is beginning to cause me problems. If I am ripping an 8ft length there could be 5mm in the difference at either end, and I am constantly having to readjust the sliding table for cross cutting, and the blade doesn't stay at 90 deg for too long!! All this checking and tweaking is a real pain in the ass!! Last year the fold out extension that holds a second fence fell down while my dad was cleaning it and severed the tendon in his finger so I took that off!

So now I'm in the market for a new table saw, can anyone recommend anything to me? Obviously accuracy is a big factor, and something that won't take up too much floor space. I would have up to £1000 to spend.

Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated!!

I have the SIP 12" cast iron table saw and can't fault it. A few of us on here have this table or the 10" version and are happy with them. I have found it to be very accurate. HTH.

Thanks for the replys, I do quite a bit of cabinet/furniture making, wardrobes, tv units, tables etc! I would use a lot of 8x4 sheets so I'd be after something that could handle them!

You need a panel saw really but there way over your budget and unless you have a vertical one they take loads of room.

http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-ax ... rod838695/ Will do all but you will need to remove the fence when trying for 4x4 sheets and not butt the machine upto a wall. I wouldn't say the sliding gear is really upto holding 15mm+ without the sliding gear deflecting. But it can be made stronger or just lift the deflecting part as I do. I have never tried cutting 4x4 on mine though and do as you do, cut the board in half with a skill saw.

http://www.axminster.co.uk/jet-jet-jts- ... rod791242/ Don't think 4x4 would be possible on this saw unless you built extra extension tables.

The Sip with sliding gear is over £1000 and the Kity is £200 more then your budget.

I have the 10" SIP saw with sliding table. Its impossible to rip a 8x4 on it but you can cross cut it but its not at all easy. You can rip 8x4 just across the table fine, I've done that only once with a veneered board with the help of 2 other people. A track saw would be much better for that cut down.

Once you've got your pieces in manageable sizes I just don't think the SIP can be beaten, I can't think of anything I could want more from it. An excellent machine and by far an away the best tool I have, I really love the sliding table.
