Does anyone here have one of the Makita plunge saws ?

I have a few Festool tools in systainers but I want to put all my Makita Li-ion drills into one big systainer and I noticed that the Makita saw comes in a systainer style box. Is the box compatible with Festool systainers I cannot find pictures of it anywhere to check the only pics I can find show metal clips on the lid and not the plastic ones like the Festool (Tanos) ones.

If it is a Systainer then, yes, it will be compatible.

Systainers are made by one of Festool's sister companies and they sell to several other manufacturers. Sometimes the latches are a different colour, but the mechanics are the same.

It seems to me that Systainers are excellent, but why do they insist in using the crappiest vac-formed flimsy interior? I did see a much better, foam-like interior last year, but I don't know if that has become standard interior fitting.

Cheers
Steve

yeah thats what i need to know is it a proper systainer or a dodgy makita clone some i have seen on the net have metal clips nothing like the systainer ones also does anyone know where i can buy one of these makita boxes if they are the same. yes i know i could just buy festool one but i thought makita drills would look better in a makita box. :D

I think I'd rather my tool boxes didn't have a big advert about what's inside, personally. You can buy systainers plain with no logos. I can't find the site right now but it was posted here a while back. Festool, Bosch, Makita, Metabo, etc all buy them in from a single source.

I saw one in local B & Q they are not Systainer cases. They look like though.
If you google Systainer then you will come across a German trader who sells everything Systainer even foam bases for tools to sit in/on inside the case. They come in different sizes to suit your gear. I have most of my tools in them. I also have two (size 1) for screws and fixings, better than the metal ones from Screwfix.
The only drawback I can see is when you lock a few together they get a bit heavy and also you then have to split them to get inside any but the top one. Other than that they are great and look very proffesional when you go to a job.
I write on the front and side whats in them as the labels fall off !!

You can spares for them too from same german chap. Here's his addy.

The site doesn;t ring a bell, but I think it was posted a few years ago, might have had a redesign.

Whats up, didn't you believe my post about Koffunshop ?

I know some on here think my posts are not in the spirit, but sometimes I think, why bother when I'm just ignored.

Sorry, I'm just cheesed off having now work at the moment.

Sorry, BB, I'm guilty of looking at the URL instead of following the link! I'll remove my post if you want.

Don't take it to heart when you feel your posts are ignored btw - I think about 9/10 of my posts are! Probably why my posting rate has gone down to about 1 post a month...

Cheers,
Neil

Yeah I know what you mean but I would rather they advertised Makita in them than Festool, Festools more likely to get nicked. I dont even leave my Festool stuff in the van.

Busy builder, Thanks anyway but I do know about Tanos they are the people who make the systainers for everyone but with shipping its very expensive way to buy them.

A little side note I was working in a new house this week and got chatting to the kitchen fitter he had loads of Festool systainers so I thought oh he likes Festool. Then when he opened them up they were full of diy bosch kit and hand tools. Turns out he has no Festool but he likes the boxes

I thought it was just me, I have virtually given up posting, offering any answers, what's the point if you just get ignored.

Come on guys let's not get grumpy, I know it's cold outside. If a post is not replied to directly, doesn't mean it's not been beneficial to the thread. A forum doesn't exist without posts. But two word replies can clutter the place up. Some forums have the ability to add a 'thanks' button. But our leader prefers the minimalist approach.

FWIW, these people are the cheapest place for systainers that I've found in the uk - no connection other than being a satisfied customer.

chippy - i'd rather have festool on my systainers - I'm guessing a thief would go for something with a familiar name on - most people have never heard of festool.

I agree, go a household to do a job, say fit a kitchen. How many people, men or women have said "Festool, ooh they are expensive tools " or words to that effect.

Most couldn't tell their Black & Deckers from their Mafells. Its only on forums like this that these companies (Mafell/Festool) manage to sell their wares, by word of mouth and reputation for quality.

That and a bit of tool fetish....oo er missus

I emailed Makita about this and they say they dont sell the systainer cases seperately yet but they are bringing out a new router and something else and they will be in these cases too. Looks like Makita are going over to systainers too.

Ebay does a few from a company called Lagler, from Australia I believe...

Thanks but I have seen those, Ok if you like green and yellow.

I will probably go for Festool ones from http://www.toolsave.co.uk/product.php?cat_id=401

Now I have to work out wether to get a sys 3 or 4 for all my drills or get two sys 2's so i can seperate them.
