Hi all.
I have a ts500 with aluminium top. I've had it over 20 years. As good as it is, I'm over the mitre slots... They can move width-wise, and I like the idea of machined accurate slots. Is it possible to fit the newer cast iron tops on this older saw? Has anyone done it? Is it easy? Is the top available as a spare part? Does the original fence assembly fit ok?
Any advice and experience gratefully absorbed!

I've never heard any issue like that before, are you sure its not something else to blame?
If you could get a cast iron top, can you be guaranteed that it will be flat?

Might be worth looking into some solution of sprung runners, much like
a featherboard kind of deal, or fancier if you like.
A good excuse to have a look at some designs, who wouldn't want a fancy mitre gauge like on the hooked on wood channel
I presume its a decent design, which would be adjustable.

I'll stand corrected if this is actually a thing, but would imagine that all sorts of propellers and impellers would be real troublesome if it were the case?
