Just wondering what's the strangest thing people have been asked to turn. I have just been asked to make two 'dishes' for some golfing trophies for someone, they want them to be (and I quote) "sort of volcano shaped with the trophy dishes sitting inside so that they can be used for indoor putting practice."

I was asked to make some handles for whips for a local BDSM group made 10 and got good money for it. I was also asked to make a replica 18th century stethoscope for the BBC for a program about captain cooks voyage again short notice needed in 48 hours so a premium price wish there were more like that.

I was asked to make a 3 foot long penis with a ring piercing to be used as a tiller handle for a narrow boat called the Prince Albert.
They also wanted a juggling club shaped one to replace the penis for when their parents visited.

Safe to say that if this was a competition you'd be in the lead with that Duncan.

Replica old style truncheon for a dominatrix who wanted to insert it so it had to be about 2/3 size...

dragging this thread out of the gutter, i was asked to make a replica vocano that would fit a boiling tube in the top, for a local schools science club - the specification was it had to be acid and alkili resistant as they were going to make it errupt during a presentation.

I made it out of 3 blocks of iroko, held together by hidden brass screws

I was also asked to make a 24" dia fruit bowl for a minamalist designer who specified they didnt want any grain to show once it was painted white (why they didnt use ceramics i dont know) I did that one out of a sheet of mdf using the bandsaw bowl approach

Had to think hard on this one. I think the strangest one I've had is not so much what I made but what they were used for....

I made some Beech Balls with a 40mm hole through them. They were being used by a guy building a lif size Dalek. The plunger and gun "arms" on the Dalek fit into a kind of ball and socket joint to give the movement and it was these balls that I made.

Cheers

Richard

P.S, not made any dildos yet I'm affraid

Latest ones: Two medieval sausage fillers for someone who does re-enactments and a 28mm crochet hook to make a rug with. More fun than bowls
