Hello, I'm trying to figure out the Startrite naming system for Bandsaws. Say it's 14-S-5, i believe that's 14" throat and 5 speeds but what's the 'S'? I've also seen 'T' there.

I looked at a couple of used Startrite bandsaws over a year ago, but they were too large for my shop. I think the S indicated the higher speed range for wood, and T was the lower speed range for metal.

I didn't get that far into them, but I think the pulleys are different between two otherwise similar S and T saws.

Hi. See the attached photo. S is for standard speed and T is for slow speed.

S stands for Sabre
V is vertical
R is rapier
cant remember T

whatever number is first is the throat size, and the last number is the speed range
