Searching through my late Father's old tools again I came across a Stanley No. 59 Dowelling Jig and a Zyliss Vice/Clamp system.

I've found some instructions for the Stanley on the web but is it worth bothering with - anybody used one?
There is a few Zyliss's for sale on the Bay - mainly in the States - anybody got a manual for it?
Zyliss (if it is the same Swiss company) seem just to make kitchen appliances now?

I have one and have used it a bit with good results. My problem has been that I have only one of the drill guides left, so I can use it with only one diameter.

Has anyone found a good substitute for the guide bushings? I've been thinking of getting friend of mine to turn and drill a metric set, but if something like that is available already it would be much easier.

I have a Stanley No. 59 Dowelling jig that I have used quite a lot. It is easy to set up and quick to use. Since getting a Porter Cable plate joiner I dont use it as much but I was always happy with the No. 59. It really works good on narrow stock whereyou cant use a plate jointer Jim

james, will try and copy mine zyliss manual when i find it again,
in the uk it is distributed only at exhibitions, but is a decent clamping animal. the only thing it won't take is heavy planing across its clamping surfaces. it will however hold things in many useful ways if you have allthe bits.

Thanks everybody - there's quite a few bits to the vice system - It would be nice to put it together properly?

Like Pekka have only found one guide bush, but have not given up the search, now that I know what I am looking for.

Rod :)
